During the school year, these classes are offered on Saturdays. Each student is required to attend 4 Saturdays, for a total of 30 hours. Our school allows you to start anytime, and take the sessions in any order you wish as long as you take one of each session. Each session covers a different set of subjects and does not run into the next session. In other words, if you started on session 3, you now must completes sessions 1, 2 and 4 but in any order you wish.

Driver's education classroom facilities are inspected by the DMV, they offer both comfort and availability.

Our driving school that offers driver's education has a DMV approved curriculum; there is a qualified teacher licensed by the DMV. The class is taught by showing videos, reading the DMV handbook, answering questions, and disscussion.

To begin with it is important that any student or their parents interested in attending driver's education class should understand the real purpose behind these classes. Some people have the mistaken idea that driver's education classes are designed to prepare a student to pass the DMV written test. In actuality this is only part of the truth. It's true that through this course you will obtain enough knowledge to pass the required test, but it's designed to cover a vast array of topics that will assist them in everyway possible in their driving career. Following is a brief example of the types of subjects that should be taught in a driver's education class.

1. LAWS - registration, pedestrian, traffic, lighting, smog, sound, right of way, etc.
2. WHAT TO DO AT THE SCENE OF AN ACCIDENT - first aid, reports, insurance info.
3. AUTO INSURANCE - learning the different parts of the policy
4. LEGAL SYSTEM - dealing with a police officer, fighting a ticket, traffic school
5. VEHICLE MAINTENANCE - month-to-month maintenance
6. HOW TO BUY AND SELL A VEHICLE LEGALLY AND SAVE MONEY
7. DEFENSIVE DRIVING - vision habits, space management, behavioral training
8. HOW THE ROADS AND SIGNS ARE DESIGNED TO WORK
9. MOTORCYCLE LAWS AND SAFETY TECHNIQUES

A well thought out driver's education class should offer all of these subjects and much more. Student should be required to take notes in class. We encourage students to observe their parents driving skills and share what they have learned. Because Mom still believes that you can't legally change lanes at intersections, and Dad believes that yield signs are yellow and black.

Students can enroll in a the driver's education program at the age of 15 1/2 years or older. Following completion of the four classes they recieve the forms to go take their written test at the DMV. The DMV requires everyone under the age of 18 to take a 46-question written test, file an application with their parent's signature, pay a $28 fee, and show evidence of a social security number and birth certificate. Each applicant is then required to take a two-part eye examination. One test is to test your acquity, and the other to check your ability to see in dim light. If you pass both of these tests you will be given a learner's permit. This permit does not become valid until the applicant takes at least one driving lesson with a professional driving instructor licensed by the DMV.

After the first driving lesson, the student may drive with anyone 25 years of age or older with a valid California driving license and a properly insured vehicle. Anyone supervising this new driver is required to be in the front seat of the vehicle and alert enough to take control of that vehicle in an emergency.
Parents or others supervising the driving of a new student, must be aware of the fact that they are required to provide 50 hours of practice time, practicing those driving techniques they were taught 10 hours of which must be done at night (in any time increments).

A total of six hours of driving instruction must be given in order to complete the course. The instructor will issue the student a completion certificate. This certificate must be shown to the DMV along with the completion certificate from the classroom in order to take the driving test.

Additional driving lessons may be given and are often requested. Many people would like to have additional lessons on freeways, mountain roads, heavy traffic.
